Abstract

PURPOSE: Titled wax having excellent heat stability and excellent properties necessary for a dispersant for pigments and fillers, comprising an ethylene/C4W10 α- olefin copolymer wax having specified properties.
CONSTITUTION: Ethylene is copolymerized with a C4W10 α-olefin in the presence of a catalyst prepared from a highly active Ti catalyst component activated with a Mg compound, an organic Al compound, halogen/Al atomic ratio 1W2, and an ether to produce an ethylene copolymer wax having the following properties: intrinsic viscosity 0.06W0.6dl/g, density 0.87W0.94g/cm3, σ (≤120°C)/σo ratio ≥0.82, where σo is the total area surrounded by endothermic spectral lines and a base line of the heat absorption spectrum obtained with a differential scanning calorimeter, and σ is the total area surrounded by endothermic spectral lines at ≤120°C and the base line, ethylene content 88W98mol%, and average number of methylene chains containing at least 7 methylene groups ≤60, and the number of double bonds per 1,000 carbon atoms ≤0.7.
