Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled resin having high ion exchange capacity, without using toxic substance, by radically polymerizing glycidyl ester of acrylic acids and a specific amount of a polyvinyl monomer in an organic solvent, reacting the product with phosphoric acid, etc., and hydrolyzing the reaction product.
CONSTITUTION: A monovinyl monomer containing the glycidyl ester of acrylic acid which may have an alkyl group at the α-carbon atom (e.g. glycidyl methacrylate) is mixed with ≤5mol%, pref. 0.5W4mol%, based on the monomer, of a polyvinyl monomer (e.g. divinylbenzene), and subjected to the radical polymerization in the presence of an organic compound (e.g. isooctane) which acts as a solvent to the monomers. The produced polymer is made to react with phosphoric acid or phosphorus oxychloride, and hydrolyzed to obtain the objective resin.
