Abstract
PURPOSE: To simplify the treatment of a catalyst after the reaction and obtain the titled substance without corrosion of a reactor, by reacting dicyclopentadiene with acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid in the presence of a high polymer having a specific group as a catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: Dicyclopentadiene is reacted with acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid in the presence of a high polymer having a group of formula I (Y is acid group; R is F or perfluoroalkyl group) as a catalyst to give the titled compound. Preferably, a compound having the acid group Y in formula I in an amount of about 0.01W5 equivalents, particularly 0.05W2 equivalents, based on 1g of the catalyst is used as the catalyst. An example of the compound is a high polymer of formula II [Y1 is acid group, e.g. carboxyl, sulfone, etc.; R1 is F, etc.; n is 0, 1 or 2; X1 is group of -(CF2)m- (m is an integer 2W10), etc.] which has a number of linked fluorine atoms with ion exchange capacity based on the group of formula I.
