Abstract

PURPOSE: To secure the ignition of the captioned burner by a method wherein a primary combustion chamber having a recessed section and secondary flame holes is provided in the burner so that the quantity of NOx is reduced.
CONSTITUTION: A fuel gas and primary air are sucked into a sucking port of the burner through a gas nozzle 2 and are injected from each of flame holes of a primary flame hole section 5. Then the gas is ignited to produce flames which become inner and outer Bunsen flames 12 due to secondary air. In this case, since the primary combustion chamber 6 is provided with the recessed section 7, the propagation of the Bunsen flames to the primary flame section 5 is secured and the most part of the Bunsen flames becomes primary combustion flames at around the recessed section 7 within the primary combustion chamber 6. The flames in the chamber 6 are then decomposed into gases such as H2, CO, hydrocarbons and etc. on the excess fuel side and secondary combustion is completed at the secondary flame holes 8 with the aid of oxygen therearound. Accordingly, although the quantity of NOx is large in some part of the primary Bunsen flames, the entire quantity thereof in the burner can be reduced.
