Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a hollow fiber having uniform degrees of orientation and crystallization and high percentage of hollowness and filtration velocity, by expelling a gas fed into the interior of an extruded and formed hollow fiber partially from a capillary for expelling the gas provided with a gas supplying capillary in a spinning hole.
CONSTITUTION: A cooling gas is fed from a gas supplying capillary 8 into the interior of a molten polymer extruded through an extruding slit 7 in the form of a hollow fiber, and the supplied gas is then partially expelled from an expelling capillary 9 through a pressure balancing chamber 10 to the outside. The balance between the internal pressure and the external pressure of the hollow fiber is kept in the pressure balancing chamber 10. The controlled cooling of the inner and the outer walls of the extruded hollow fiber provides a hollow fibrous membrane having a slight fiber unevenness of the diameter thereof, a uniform structure of the inner and the outer surfaces and a high degree of filtering property such as a high percentage of hollowness and filtration velocity.
