Abstract

PURPOSE:To accomplish an optimum picture quality with good resolution, by applying high frequency component of a video signal picked up via a pair of differential amplifiers and a low frequency component picked up via one differential amplifier having a picture quality controlling variable resistor. CONSTITUTION:A video signal A is given to a pair of differential amplifiers I1, II2 connected differentially and a high frequency component C only is inputted to one of a matrix circuit 8 via an HPF6 of the second order differential circuit via a common load resistor 5. At the same time, the video signal A is also inputted to a current source 3 of the differential amplifier I1 having a picture quality controlling variable resistor VR1, and a low frequency component B only is picked up via an LPF7 of an integration circuit and inputted to another of the matrix circuit 8. Thus, the peaking amount of the video signal produced via the current source 3 is controlled inversely proportional to the level of the video signal applied to the differential amplifiers I1 and II2, and the compensation of picture quality is automatically controlled through the contrast, and the optimum picture with good resolution to any video signal level is obtained.
