Abstract

PURPOSE: To make water content of coal to be fed constant and to enhance coke quality, by slurrying the coal with addition of water and feeding the slurry at a constant rate to a coke oven after continuous dehydration by centrifuging.
CONSTITUTION: Coal is carried to slurry tank 2 by upstream coveyer 1 and slurried with addition of water by agitation with agitator 6 placed in the slurry tank 2. After the slurry is continuously supplied to centrifugal separator 5 at a controlled rate by pump 4 and dehydrated, the dehydrated coal is carried to a coal bin by downstream conveyer 7. Thus it is possible to reduce heat consumption of the coke oven and to enhance coke quality, because the dehydrated coal slightly varies in water content and can be reduced in water content below the material coal even when the material coal varies in water content.
