Abstract

PURPOSE: To feed coal powder well to compression rolls and to raise the compression yield of coal powder to about not less than 90 %, by supplying water to the hopper eguipped with a screw conveying the coal powder to the compression rolls.
CONSTITUTION: Coal is fed from the entrance port 9 on the top of the funnel- shaped hopper 1, equipped above the compression face 10 of the compression rolls 6 and 6', and mixed by the blades 2 and the screw 3 and transported to the outlet of the bottom 4. Water is fed from the water hole 7 into the hopper 1 to make a water content of the coal powder in the hopper 1 1.5W 8 wt. %, preferably 2W6 wt. %. An average particle size of the coal powder may be 5W250μ and the residence time of the powder in the hopper 1 is about 1W10 min.
