Abstract

PURPOSE: To use catalysts stably for a long period of time by regenerating the catalysts having degraded by absorbing SO2 with a gas contg. H2 and CO, reducing the concd. and recovered SO2 to single S substance by coal, and obtaining a gas for regeneration of catalysts through partial combustion of coal.
CONSTITUTION: The waste gas 6 exhausted from a boiler 1 is denitrated and desulfurized, and when the catalyst reaction of a reactor 2 has degraded, a line 8 is closed, and a regenerating gas is introduced through a line 10 to regenerate the copper sulfate in the reactor to copper oxide. After the regeneration, the waste gas is again introduced through the line 8 and is subjected to waste gas treatment. The SO2 produced by the regeneration is partly circulated through a line 12 for controlling the concn. of the SO2, after which it is fed through a line 13 to a single S substance recovery process 3. The SO2 is reduced by coal 14, and is removed as liquid S20 from a sulfur condenser 4. The coal remained in the process 3 is withdrew from a line 15, and is partially burned in a regenerating gas producing process 5. The formed H2- and CO-contg. gas is fed as a regenerating gas to the reactor 2 through lines 22, 25.
