Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the thick hot rolled high tension steel belt having excellent strength and low temperature toughness, by carrying out the hot rolling treatment of a V-containing steel according to a specific condition and by giving full play to fine particle action and acceleration action for low temperature transformation due to V.
CONSTITUTION: A slab of V steel containing 0.02W0.15%C, 0.60% or less Si, 0.50W2.20% Mn, 0.010% or less S, 0.10% or less sol. Al and 0.05W0.30% V or of V steel further containing one element or at least two elements of 0.50% or less Cu, 0.5% or less Ni, 0.50% or less Cr and 0.50% or less Mo or 100ppm or less Ca or containing these elements compositely is hot rolled into a steel belt at a processing ratio of 70% or more at 1,100°C or higher and the rolling of the steel belt is finished in a temperature range of 850W680°C. This is rapidly cooled at a cooling rate more than 5°C/sec, and is wound up into a coil at 500W300°C.
