Abstract

PURPOSE: To considerably raise the crystallization temp. of an amorphous alloy obtd. by very rapid cooling from a molten state by adding a Ia or IIa group element and a IIIaWVIIa group element in the periodic table to a VIII group element and a metalloid as amorphous alloy forming elements.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy represented by general formula AxByCzDv is melted in an inert gas atmosphere, sprayed on an iron roll rotating at high speed, and rapidly cooled at 106°C/sec super high cooling rate to manufacture an amorphous alloy having superior strength, corrosion resistance and a considerably raised crystallization temp. as compared to a conventional alloy. In the formula, A is one or more among the VIII group elements such as Fe, Co and Ni in the periodic table, B is one or more among the metalloids such as Si, C and B, C is one or more among the Ia group elements such as Li, Na and K and the IIa group elements such as Mg, Ca and Sr, D is one or more among the IIIaWVIIa group elements such as Sc, Ti and V, the lanthanum series elements and the actinium series elements, x is 33W93, y is 6W35, z is 0.01W6, v is 0.01W60 and x+y+z+v=100.
