Abstract

PURPOSE: Tea leaf rolling is effected while a part or the whole of the hot air in the leaf roller is exchanged to adjust the inner temperature and humidity to the target values, thus producing high-quality tea.
CONSTITUTION: Steamed tea leaves are thrown from the front door 19 into the rolling and drying chamber 15, the burner 24 is fired to send hot air with the fan 28 and the stirrer shaft 11 is made to revolve. The atmosphere humidity and tea leaf temperature are obsereved with humidity detector 23 and tea leaf temperature detector 10 and in case either of them exceeds the target value the motor 21 opens or shuts the damper 20 to exchange the hot air and adjust to the target value. When the control is effected with a micro computer, the temperature and humidity to be controlled is programmed in ROM to compare the observed values with the programmed ones to shut or open the damper.
