Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable the complete post-ripening treatment of orange fruits, preventing the condensation of water to the fruits, by detecting the temperature of the atmosphere in the treating chamber and the temperature of the fruits, and raising the temperature of the heated and humidified air fed to the treating chamber according to the increase of the fruit temperature.
CONSTITUTION: The post-ripening treatment of orange fruis is performed by raising the temperature of the fruit from the initial temperature T0 slowly to the target temperature T, and keeping at the temperature for a definite time interval. In the above process, the temperature of hot air fed to the treating chamber is controlled with the heater 18 of the air conditioner 5 so as to keep the temperature difference between the atmosphere and the fruit within the range between the preset upper limit t1 and the preset lower limit t2. The temperature of the hot air is raised slowly keeping the above condition until the temperature of the fruit reaches the target value T. Thereafter, active heating is not necessary, and heated and humidified air having a temperature nearly equal to that of the fruit is supplied intermittently to the treating chamber to compensate the heat dissipation loss.
