Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent a device from malfunctioning by resetting a microcomputer and also storing information, showing that the resetting operation requires no processing, at a good place to leave off the execution of a program, and by making it as the judgement condition of a branch instruction for program execution. CONSTITUTION:When the power source of an impact type printer is turned on, a microcomputer 1 is set and a CPU2 starts operation. Then, the CPU2 first executes an initial program and next starts the execution of a main program. When a cover is opened for the replacement of an ink ribbon of the printer with the computer 1 set, an external state change signal S is generated and supplied to an input port 5 and an AND circuit 9. Then, the CPU2, after executing the program up to a good place to break the execution, stores a nonvolatile memory 4 with information showing that the signal S has been generated, and also sends a signal ''1'' from an output port 6 to the circuit 9, which outputs a reset signal R2 to reset the CPU2.
