Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain always stable fixing performance by providing heat pipes and a positive characteristic thermistor in a heating roll body, and transmitting the heat generated by this to the surface of the roll body through the heat pipes. CONSTITUTION:A heating roll body 1 is coated with a nontacky layer 4 of ''Teflon '' or the like on its surface, and contains therein heat pipes 5 of an approximately semicylindrical shape bisected in an axial direction and a positive characteristic thermistor 6 formed with electrodes on both end surfaces of a semiconductor consisting of barium titanate type ceramics, between said pipes. The heat pipes 5 are of tightly closed construction, and are lined with wicks 7 on the inside surfaces. A heating medium such as water is filled in their inside in a decompressed state. Thereby, the surface of the roll body is maintained at always a constant temp. with good accuracy and always stable fixing is accomplished.
