Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to fix a wick in a wick-inserted heat pipe in a simple and reliable manner, by forming a fusible wick fixing layer on the inner surface of an enclosed container, and fixing a wick securely in place through utilization of fusion and solidification of the fusible wick fixing layer. CONSTITUTION:A sol, obtained by mixing a mineral oil with powder of soda glass having grain sizes of about 10mu, is coated over the inner surface of an enclosed container 4, and a wick fixing layer 5 is formed by drying the sol coating for 20min at 100 deg.C and then treating it at about 700 deg.C. Subsequently, a wick constituting member 6 is inserted into the container 4 while keeping contact with the surface of the wick fixing layer 5, and then the layer 5 is fused and thereafter solidified, whereby part of the wire net 6 is fixed in the layer 5. Then, the inner space of the container 4 is evacuated and a working fluid 8 is charged into the same. By employing such an arrangement, it is enabled to fix the wick in a prompt and reliable manner.
