Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the output power of a generator, by increasing the axial dimension of an air gap by attaching annular supplement cores of magnetic material to axial end portions of an armature core. CONSTITUTION:An armature 3 consists of an armature core 30 and an armature coil 35 which is wound into a slot 31 of said core 30. Laminated annular supplement cores 4, 4', which have a nearly rectangular cross-section, are attached in such a manner that they enclose the armature core along the direction of a shaft. The armature core 30 and the supplement cores 4, 4' have nearly the same inside diameter and they are fixed together practically in one single body mechanically and magnetically. The armature 3 is mechanically fixed to brackets 5, 6 and the armature coil 35 is electrically connected to a rectifier 7. Thus the axial dimension of the air gap of the armature core parallel to the shaft can be extended without increasing the axial length of the armature coil, and the space can be effectively utilized.
