Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst which can effectively accelerate denitration reaction and oxidation reaction of SO2 simultaneously for treating waste gas, by allowing Fe2(SO4)3 to be carried on a V2O5-TiO2 catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: This catalyst is composed of 3W10wt% V2O5, 0.5W5% Fe2(SO4)3, and the rest of TiO2. This catalyst is obtained by impregnating and carrying aqueous FeSO4.7H2O solution to a catalyst which is formed by adding V2O5 to a TiO2 carrier manufactured from titanium hydroxide and by heating and drying the product. The Fe2(SO4)3 contained in the above-mentioned amount accelerates SO2→ SO3 conversion reaction without reducing the denitration reaction so much. In this way, Nox contained in waste gases of boilers can be removed and, at the same time, dust, such as fly ash, etc., can also be removed efficiently. Moreover, when Fe(III) is used from the first time for allowing to contain Fe2(SO4)3, the denitrating capacity is remarkably retarded.
