Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove the NOx in boiler waste gases, and remove dusts such as fly ashes efficiently by carrying V2O5 and sulfate of specific metals on a carrier consisting of rutile TiO2 thereby preparing the catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: V2O5 and MeSO4 (Me denotes metals of ≥1 kinds out of the group consisting of Cs, K, Cu, Fe, La and Rb) are carried on a carrier consisting of rutile TiO2, whereby a catalyst for treatment of waste gases accelerating the denitration of NOx by NH3 and the conversion of coexisting SO2 to SO3 is obtained. Since this catalyst is provided with the strong conersing effect of SO2 to SO3, it permits the preparation of SO2 corresponding to need in the combustion of coal wherein dusts of extremely poor dust collectability are produced. This makes the improvement of dust collection efficiency, that is, the efficient waste gas treatment by the reduction in size of an electrical dust precipitator possible.
