Abstract

PURPOSE: When cellulose acetate fiber is produced by the wet method, the yarn, after spun and rinsed, is dried under no tension in the fiber-length direction, whereby the titled fiber with high tranparency and mechanical properties is produced.
CONSTITUTION: Cellulose acetate, preferably of more than 58% acetylation degree, is dissolved in, e.g., dimethylacetamide and treated in usual manners to form a spinning dope. The resultant dope is subjected to wet spinning using a dimethylacetamide aqueous solution as a coagulation both, preferably at a temperature lower than 30°C. The resultant yarn is washed, e.g., with boiling water, finishing oil is applied, the yarn is swung on the stainless steel net conveyor and dried in the hot air, preferably at 80W160°C under substantially no tension in the yarn-length direction.
