Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a simple and rapid recognition of a position, a shape, etc. of a hole, by a method wherein the image of a hole in an object is picked up in an out- of-focus state by means of an image pickup device, and a video signal is converted into a binary system by means of a prearranged threshould value. CONSTITUTION:An image formation lens 3 is positioned so that a light image of a hole 1a in an object 1 is picked up in an out-of-focus state on a light-receiving surface of an image pickup device 2. Thus, the light image, picked up by means of the image pikup device 2, is prevented from the production of fine noise and is processed on the average as shown in a drawing (a) to be brought into a vangue image. As a result, a video signal 7 outputted is also averaged, and if the video signal is converted into a binary system by means of a prearranged threshould value, only a spot, corresponding to the hole 1a, is converted into a binary system. This permits the simple and rapid recognigtion of shape and position of the hole 1a based on a signal in which a fine noise is erased.
