PURPOSE:To make a D/A converting part unnecessary and to increase a converting speed, by selecting a reference signal by an output of a comparator for comparing an input signal and plural reference signals, amplifying a difference between the reference signal and the input signal, and outputting it to the next stage, in a parallel comparison A/D converter which has been cascaded to plural stages. CONSTITUTION:Comparators 6a, 6b compare an input signal Ei with reference signals Er, -Er. In case of Ei>Er, an upper digit becomes ''1'', and a controller 7 closes a switch 8b and outputs output voltage of 2(Ei-Er) to the next stage. In case of -Er<Ei<Er, the upper digit becomes ''O'', or -''O'' in accordance with the polarity of the input signal, a switch 8c is closed, and output voltage of 2Ei is outputted to the next stage. In the even of Ei<-Er, the upper digit becomes -''1'', a switch 8a is closed, and output voltage of 2(Ei+Er) is outputted to the next stage. In this regard, in order to correct the offset, a switch 5b and an offsetting memory 9 are provided.
