Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve desired digit matching by giving a representing method indication signal for floating-point data. CONSTITUTION:This circuit is equipped with adding means 5 and 6 which obtain the difference between the contents of the exponent part of the 1st floating-point data (OP1) and those of the 2nd floating-point data (OP2) and information on which is greater, and shifting circuits 1 and 2 which shift selectively either one of the contents of the mantissa part of the 1st data (OP1) and those of the 2nd data (OP2). Representing-method indication signals indicating the representation mode of floating-point data are received by the adding means 5 and 6 and processing modes for finding the said difference are switched by the representing-method indication signals.
