Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a uniform mixture of metallic W powder and metallic Re powder by a method in which a W oxide powder is mixed with metallic Re powder or an Re compound powder, and the mixture is reduced by hydrogen.
CONSTITUTION: A W oxide powder, e.g., WO3, etc., is mixed with a necessary amount of metallic Re powder or an Re compound powder, e.g., perrhenic acid, ammonium perrhenate, rhenium oxide, etc., where small amounts of oxides, e.g., SiO2, Al2O3, K2O, etc., are beforehand added to the W oxide, e.g., WO3, as needed. The mixture thus obtained in uniformly mixed, and heated at 300W500°C in an atmosphere of hydrogen for primary reduction and then at 600W1,000°C in the same atmosphere for secondary reduction to obtain a uniform mixture of metallic W powder and metallic Re powder.
