Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture an uniformly mixed W and Re powder by a method in which an Re compound powder is added to a W compound aqueous solution, and then mixture is heated for reduction in an atmosphere of hydrogen.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution of a water-soluble W compound, e.g., ammonium tungstate, ammonium paratungstate, etc., is heated at 80 to 100°C to saturated state, and when the W compound begins to crystallize, an Re compound powder, e.g., perrhenic acid, ammonium perrhenate, etc., is added to the mixture. The mixture is further heated to dryness, and a mixture of W compound and Re compound crystals formed is heated at 300W500°C in an atmosphere of hydrogen for preliminary reduction. Then, SiO2, Al2O3, or K2O is added to the mixture and heated at 650W1,000°C in an atmosphere of hydrogen for secondary reduction to obtain uniformly mixed W and Re powder.
