Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture an uniformly mixed W and Re metal powder by a method in which metallic Re powder is added to a concentrated aqueous solution of a W compound, and the mixture is heated to dryness, primarily reduced, and then secondarily reduced.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution of a W compound, e.g., ammonium tungstate, ammonium paratungstate, etc., is heated at 80W100°C for concentration to saturated state, and when the W compound begins to crystallize, metallic Re powder is added to the mixture and the mixture is further heated for concentration to dryness in order to obtain a mixture of a W compound crystal and metallic Re powder. The mixture thus obtained is heated at 300W500°C in an atmosphere of hydrogen for preliminary reduction and then at 650W900°C for secondary reduction to obtain a uniform mixture of metallic W and metallic Re.
