Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled substance from an inexpensive raw material, in a short time, easily, in high yiekd, by reacting a benzotrichloride-type compound, a benzoic acid-type compound, and a pyrazolone-type compound in the presence of a catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula I (X and Y are H or halogen), a compound of formula II and a compound of formula III (R is lower alkyl) are made to react together in the presence of a catalyst to obtain a compound of formula IV (Z is H or metal atom). The catalyst is a metal halide or an acid such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, perchloric acid, etc., especially pref. magnesium chloride or zinc chloride.
