Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare 4-benzoylpyrazole derivative useful as an intermediate of herbicide, by the rearrangement reaction of the mostly novel 1-benzoylpyrazole derivative in the presence of a catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula I is prepared by contacting (A) 1mol of the compound of formula II (R1 is lower alkyl; X is halogen, lower alkyl, or NO2; n is integer 0W3) which is a novel compound excepting 1-benzoyl- 5-hydroxy-3-methylpyrazole, with (B) pref. about 1.0W6.0mol, esp. about 1.5W 3.0mol of a rearrangement catalyst such as Lewis acids, azoles, basic alkali metal salts, and/or basic alkaline earth metal salts, pref. at 100W160°C. The compound of formula II can be obtained by reacting the compound of formula III (R2 is lower alkyl) with the compound of formula IV, and catalytically reacting the resultant compound of formula V in an inert solvent in the presence of a basic catalyst.
