Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the detection of flaws evenly on the entire surface and in all directions of an irregular body, by providing a magnetizing coil around the outer surface of the body to be checked and forming a synthesized circular rotating magnetic field by directly conducting electricity in said body to be checked. CONSTITUTION:The magnetizing coil 2 is wound around the body to be checked 1 having, e.g., a rectangular cross section, and electrode rollers 3-3'' are provided. Currents having the phase difference of 90 deg. are flowed to said magnetizing coil 2 and electrode rollers 3-3'' via electrodes 4-4. The synthesized magnetic field becomes a circular rotating magnetic field. Therefore, uniformalized magnetic field is formed on the entire surface and in all directions of the body to be checked 1, and even detection of the flaws by the magnetic powder can be performed at every side and corner.
