Abstract

PURPOSE: Three solutions containing Y, Eu and W ions each are mixed and the precipitate formed is filtered to give a red fine-particle fluorescent substance of high luminescence.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A solution containing Y ion and/or yttrium hydroxide suspension, (B) a solution containing Eu ion and/or europium hydroxide suspension and (C) a solution containing W ion are mixed and the precipitate formed is filtered to give the objective fluorescent substance of the formula (X is 0.03≤X≤0.2). The precipitate is calcined in air, for example, at 1,000°C for 2hr to increase its luminescence.
