Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure a high efficiency and at the same time to reduce the switching distortion, by varying successively the power supply voltage to be applied to a B- class electric power amplifier that drives a speaker or the like and in accordance with the input signal level and thus reducing the collector loss. CONSTITUTION:The input signal voltage VIN applied to a terminal IN is delayed by a prescribed amount through a delaying circuit 1 and supplied to an electric power amplifier 2 as well as to comparators 3-8 to be compared with reference voltages B1-B3 and -B1--B3. The positive reference voltages B1-B3 are set to increase successively, and the absolute value is set in the same way for the negative reference voltages. The comparison outputs S11-S16 are supplied to control signal generating circuits 9-14 to produce control signals S21-S26 having the gentle rise and fall waveforms. These control signals are supplied to switching means SW1-SW6. The voltages V0-V3 and -V0--V3 of a power supply voltage generating circuit 15 are supplied to an amplifier via the means SW1-SW6. In such constitution, the switching distortion is suppressed to reduce the collector loss.
