Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently pyrolyze wste plastics and to recover a high-quality product gas and a high-colorie gas, by using a pyrolysis furnace in which a fluid medium such as sand regenerated for use and an alkali material such as CaO are fluidized. CONSTITUTION:Waste plastics 2 is fed to a pyrolysis-furnace 1 at about 400- 650 deg.C in which sand and CaO are fluidized, and pyrolyzed. CO2 and HCl in the produced gas are removed by the reaction of formulasIand II, and an unpyrolyzed coarbonaceous material is deposited on the surface of the sand. Then the sand is regenerated by burning the deposited carbonaceous material in a burning furnace 4 at about 850-1,100 deg.C to which air is injected, and CaCO3 is regenerated into CaO by the reaction of formula III. Then the both are returned via a conduit 7 to the furnace 1, wherein CaCl2 is discharged together with a residue 8 and CaCO3 9 makes up for the loss. After a gas and an oily material from the furnace 1 are cooled in wetted wall cooler 10, the gas is recovered through a mist separator 19 and the oily material is recovered through a fractionating column 14.
