Abstract

PURPOSE:To avoid the breakdown of electrode caused by a pressure pen and prevent the disconnection of a switch electrode, by securing a plane distribution of row and column electrodes. CONSTITUTION:The lower substrate of a coordinate input panel has a plane structure in the form of a detection element 5 consisting of a row electrode 2 and a column electrode 4 and also has a recess structure enclosed by an insulated layer 3. An upper substrate is superposed on such lower substrate to form a structure in which a switch electrode 7 of the upper substrate is put into the recess element 5. Then the characters or the like are drawn on such coordinate panel with a pressure pen, and thus the electrode 7 touches the electrodes 2 and 4. As a result, the electrode 2 and 4 can be separated from the outside field to prevent the contamination. Furthermore, the breakdown of the electrode 2 and 4 caused directly by the pressure pen can be eliminated. At the same time, the disconnection of the electrode 7 can be avoided due to a plane structure of the electrodes 2 and 4.
