Abstract

PURPOSE:To raise the moisture exchanging efficiency while lowering the rate of gas transfer through partition plates of a heat exchanger, by making the partition plates from a moisture permeable but gas impermeable plate consisting of three layers, which is obtained by first forming a thin film of hygroscopic material over the surface of a porous material having a weak hydrophobic nature, and then laminating another porous material over the surface of the thin film of a hygroscopic material. CONSTITUTION:Partition plates 1 and spacer plates 2 are arranged perpendicularly to each other, so that fluid passages 3, 4 extending perpendicularly to each other are formed therebetween. Here the partition plates 1 are made of a moisture permeable but gas impermeable plate wch consists of three layers; a first layer 6 made of a porous material having a weak hydrophobic nature, a second layer 5 consisting of thin film having a high density and hygroscopicity that is obtained by coating an aqueous solution of a hydrophilic, high-molecular compound containing a hygroscopic medium over one surface of the layer 6, and a third layer 7 made of another porous material that is laminated over the surface of the second layer 5.
