Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve efficiency of classifying by forming plasma in vertical direction, throwing down pulverulent particles into plasma through an upper electrode or from upper part of plasma, and passing through plasma until the particles accumulate on a lower electrode.
CONSTITUTION: Pulverulent particles are contained in a hopper 8 and closed tight with a cover 9. A chamber 1 is exhausted from an exhaust port to a specified degree of vacuum. A DC voltage generator 6 is energized to apply voltage between electrodes 3, 11, 12, 13, and plasma is generated in vertical direction. Pulverulent particles are thrown down into the chamber 1 through a dropping port 4. Particles charged between the upper electrode and the first umbrella type electrode 11 fly in the direction of a bucket 21 and particles charged between the first umbrella type electrode 11 and the second umbrella type electrode 12 fly in the direction of buckets 22, 23. Further, particles charged between the second umbrella type electrode 12 and the third umbrella type electrode 13 fly in the direction of buckets 24, 25. Finally, unclassified particles fall on a bottom plate of the chamber 1.
