Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the charge-discharge efficiency by transmitting ultrasonic vibration to electrolyte in a static-electrolyte type metal-halogen battery in order to prevent the deposition of dendrite and release gas effectively. CONSTITUTION:ZnBr2 electrolyte is contained in a battery container 1, and a positive electrode 2 and negative electrode 3 are provided in the electrolyte with a separator between the electrodes. The battery container 1 is contained in a container 5 which contains a medium for ultrasonic vibration such as water. An ultrasonic generator 6 which utilizes, for example, a barium titanate vibrator is provided on the bottom of the container 5, and the generator 6 is operated intermittently or continuously during charging and discharging to vibrate the electrolyte in the battery container 1. Pipes 7, 8 to release gases are provided on the top of the battery container 1.
