Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently separte and sort conductives substances from nonconductive substances, by installing a rotary cylinder which is inclined so that mixtures carried into the cylinder are easily moved, an electrode which impresses a high voltage to the inside of the cylinder, a mechanism which exfoliates substances adhering on the inner surface of the cylinder, and a carrying out mechanism for exfoliated substances.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture of conductive substances and nonconductive substances is fed from a conveyor 11 to a cylinder 13 through a vibrating feeder 12. The cylinder 13 is inclined so that the mixture can move in the cylinder, and rotates in one direction. By the rotation of the cylinder, the mixture is brought to the direction of the rotation and, at the same time, conductive substances contained in the mixture are charged with electricity by a corona discharging electrode 25 to have the same polarity as the electrode 25. The electric charge is then discharged through the cylinder 13 and the conductive substances jump with Coulomb's force and fall down to the bottom of the cylinder 13. On the other hand, the nonconductive substances are attracted to the inner surface of the cylinder 13, and the attracted substances are exfoliated by a rotary brush 27. The exfoliated nonconductive substances are then put on a carrier 31 and carried to an impurity hopper 32.
