CONSTITUTION:Pulse current is flowed to a wire contained in a tube of a magnetic substance, and the torque by Wiedemann effect is generated by the effect with a magnet placed on the outside, then the time up to the reception of torque wave is measured, and the position thereof is detected. For example, a magnetic pipe is put into a protecting pipe 13, and a wire 13 is further contained therein. When pulse current is flowed to this through an adapter 16, torque is generated by the mutual effect with a magnet 3 on the outside. The position of the magnet is detected by the time difference from the transmission of the pulse current until the reception of the torque wave. If such mechanism is attached to a control rod driving mechanism for nuclear reactors, the position of the control rod is measured continuously and accurately with the relatively simple device.
