Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform accurate measurement regardless of the range between an ultrasonic wave tranceiver and an object to be measured by making transmitted power or the number of transmitted pulses variable based on the propagating time of the ultrasonic wave. CONSTITUTION:A blind sector generator 16 is triggered by a start pulse P1 and outputs a ''0'' signal for the time period which is proportional to the output voltage of a sample and hold circuit 12. Its output is supplied to one input terminal of an AND gate 14. At this time, the output of a comparator 8 is supplied to the other input terminal of the AND gate. Therefore, the output of the comparator 8 is not supplied to a flip flop 10 during the time the output of the blind zone generator 16 is the ''0'' signal. A variable power supply source 15 controls the gain of a transmitter driver 3 so as to vary the power of the ultrasonic wave transmitted from a transmitter 4, based on the magnitude of the voltage value of the sample hold circuit 12, which holds the voltage proportional to the measured range.
