Subsequently, on said layer, a magnetic metallic layer is formed which is excellent in corrosion resistance, has a residual density almost as same as a metallic magnetic substance of the metallic magnetic recording layer, and has an antimagnetic force as same as or less than said layer, and also is small in magnetic permeability, such as Ni, a Pt-Co alloy, a Pt-Fe alloy, an Au-Fe alloy, an Au-Fe-Co alloy, etc. In this way, a metallic magnetic tape having corrosion resistance and weather resistance is obtained without increasing an effective gap.
