Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce discharge noise owing to static charging of a conductive magnetic material layer by providing a conducting layer on the back and side faces of a metalized magnetic tape provided with the conductive magnetic material layer on the surface of a base film thereby forming the magnetic recording medium.
CONSTITUTION: A conductive magnetic material layer 2 of metals such as Co is provided on one surface of a base film 1 and further a conducting layer 3 is provided on the back and side faces of the film 1 to form the magnetic recording medium. The abovementioned conducting layer 3 may be formed by a metal plating method, metal vapor deposition method or a method of deposting conductive fine particles such as carbon power, metal powder or the like by binders. It is equally satisfactory to form the conductive layer for the side faces only on one of them.
