Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of black smoke and the accumulation of residual ashes at the bottom of a combustion furnace by a method wherein the combustion furnace is made in the form of a reversed cone and an upwardly directed swirling air stream is generated from the bottom of the furnace. CONSTITUTION:Rice chaff as a fuel is put into the upper part of a combustion furnace 1 through a nozzle 3 after they are mixed with combustion air. The combustion furnace 1 is in the form of a reversed cone whose diameter is made smaller gradually as the cone extends from upward to downward. Further, the secondary air in a quantity sufficient for floating the rice chaff is supplied upwardly into the combustion furnace 1 along the tangential direction of the furnace. As a consequence, the rice chaff thrown into the furnace can easily float on the swirling stream of air so that they can keep themselves under an optimum and stabilized floating condition.
