Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the size and weight of a rotary swash plate type compressor, by reducing the longitudinal length of the compressor by forming suction ports and suction valves directly in piston surfaces, and forming discharge ports and discharge valves in a side face of a cylinder. CONSTITUTION:Suction ports 52, 52' are formed in a piston 47 that is reciprocated by a swash plate 34 and suction valves 53a, 53a' are fitted in these suction ports. On the other hand, discarge ports 49, 49' communicated with a discharge pipe 44 are formed in a cylinder block 30 and discharge valves 50a, 50a' are fitted in these discharge ports. With such an arrangement, gas drawn from a suction pipe 46 is carried through a suction space 42 and through-holes 45, 45' into a swash plate chamber 32 and then drawn into a cylinder bore 37 in the process of expansion from either of suction ports 52, 52' of the piston 47. The gas in the cylinder bore 37 is compressed during the succeeding compression cycle and then discharged to the discharge pipe 44 from either of the discharge ports 49, 49'.
