Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve volumetric efficiency by providing suction passages to make a swash plate chamber and a compression chamber communicate with each other when a piston reaches the vicinity of the bottom dead point so that a medium to be compressed is sucked-in also from the swash plate chamber side in the final suction stroke.
CONSTITUTION: Suction passages 21a and 21b are provided in cylinder blocks 3a and 3b. One ends thereof are opened in a swash plate chamber 4, and the other ends in cylinder bores 10a and 10b so as to make the swash plate chamber 4 and a compression chamber 18a or 18b communicate with each other when a piston 7 reaches the vicinity of the bottom dead point. Accordingly, when the piston 7 reaches the vicinity of the bottom dead point, the suction passage 21b is opened, and because the pressure in the swash plate chamber 4 is higher than that in the compression chamber 18b, a coolant gas is sucked into the compression chamber 18b by the pressure difference. Thereby, when the piston 7 reaches the bottom dead point, the gas is sucked-in also from the side of the swash plate chamber 4. Accordingly, volumetric efficiency can be improved, and discharge quantity is increased.
