Abstract

PURPOSE: To mitigate pulsation on the discharge side and improve the effect of noise control, by forming high-pressure, low-pressure and discharge chambers by using side covers and making a small hole for communicating the high-pressure chamber with the discharge chamber.
CONSTITUTION: A side plate 34 and side covers 36, 38 for covering the side plate are fixed to an end of a cylinder block 12. Using the side covers 36, 38, a low-pressure chamber 54 communicated with a cylinder 16 through a through hole 56 on the low-pressure side of the side plate 34 and a high-pressure chamber 60 communicated with the cylinder 16 through a through hole on the high-pressure side of the side plate 34 are formed inside, while a discharge chamber 68 having a discharge port 64 is formed outside. The high-pressure chamber 60 is communicated with the discharge chamber 68 through a small hole 70 directed toward the center of the latter. High-pressure refrigerant in the high-pressure chamber 60 is diffused and expanded while passing through the small hole 70, and high-frequency component of discharge pressure pulsation is effectively attenuated by interaction at the time of collision at the center of the discharge chamber 68. Thus compressor noise is controlled.
