Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an alloy for composite magnetic materials which is obtained by contg. a specific amt. of Al in an alloy consisting of specific ratios of Fe, Mn and C and which can transform a γ phase easily to an α phase.
CONSTITUTION: Al is contained at 0.1W4wt% in an alloy of the composition consisting of 2W20wt% Mn, 0.4W2wt% C and the balance Fe. The γ phase of this alloy introduced at a room temp. can be easily transformed to an α phase by a heat treatment for a short time. It is possible to form the magnetic phase of arbitrary patterns at arbitrary depths on the surface of a non-magnetic material by annealing said alloy by using a laser beam or the like.
