Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the package area of parts by detecting a necessary synchronizing signal by a digital circuit when performing the digital processing of pictures by using video signals. CONSTITUTION:When a video signal (a) clamped to 0V and a sampling signal fs are inputted to an A/D converting element 1, sampling is performed by the sampling signal fs and then quantization outputs D8-D1 are obtained. The quantization level of a synchronizing signal period is set to a ''0'' + level to obtain a real signal ''L'' in the synchronizing signal period as the quantization output D8-D1. When the quantization outputs D8-D1 are inputted to an OR element 2, a real signal ''H'' appears at the output of the element when all bits of the quantization outputs D8- D1 are at ''L'', thus detecting a synchronizing signal. Consequently, the number of parts is decreased greatly to reduce the package area of the parts.
