Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide the titled non-asbestos composition excellent in properties at a high temperature, by blending pulplike granules obtained by coating and binding powdered magnesium silicate ores with a heat-resistant aromatic polymer, or by further blending it with an inorganic fiber, a non-fusible organic fiber, a friction-adjusting agent and a thermosetting resin. CONSTITUTION:The titled composition is obtained by blending pulp-like gradules prepared by coating and binding powdered magnesium silicate ores excluding asbestos fiber (e.g., serpentine) with a heat-resistant aromatic polymer (e.g., an aromatic polyamide containing m-phenyleneisophthalamide units), or by further blending 5-80wt% above pulplike granules with 1-70wt% inorganic and non-fusible organic fiber, 1-30wt% friction-adjusting agent and 5-40wt% thermosetting resin. This composition is useful for vehicles, in reply to the demand for a non-asbestos material as friction material.
