Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a titled riser device which provides a max. effect of a riser by mounting a platelike molding provided with a projection which ignites and evolves heat by the heat of molten metal on a body molded of a materil which is melted and burned out by the heat of the molten metal and assumes the shape of a riser well during casting. CONSTITUTION:The part 10 of a riser shape is formd of foamed styrene or the like which can be melted and burned out by the heat of molten metal, and a disc-shaped exothermic and heat insulating compound 9 having a projecting part is mounted thereon. The compound 9 is prepred. by mixing Al powder with iron oxide, adding a slight amt. of burning assistant and molding the mixture with a binder. If, in the stage of casting, this riser device is used, said part 10 is burned away and molten metal fills in the part, thereby forming a riser well. Since the compound 9 is fired and the projecting part thereof is enclosed by the molten metal, the quantity of the heat thereof is transferred extremely efficiently to the molten metal, and the radiation of heat by the radiant heat from the well is extremely less. In the figure, 12 denotes the solidified skin in the front layer part of the molten metal under cooling.
