Abstract
PURPOSE:To stabilize the operating voltage at the initial time of discharge and improve the discharge performance of both heavy and light loads by performing preliminary discharge from the area of a negative electrode at a specific current density during the period from the assembly of a battery to the practical use of it. CONSTITUTION:An organic solvent battery is assembled using a battery container 1 which is filled internally with generating elements. Then a battery is formed by preliminarily discharging this organic solvent battery to the area of a negative electrode up to 3% of the battery electric capacity at various current densities within the ranges of 1.5-100mA/cm<2>. In such a preliminarily discharged battery, the exceedingly high operating voltage at the initial time of discharge can be erased and the discharge operating voltage at the heavy load also can be improved.
